Itinerary

Day 1: Cape Town to Graaff-Reinet

Depart early from Cape Town and head north through the semi-arid Karoo landscape. Arrive in the charming heritage town of Graaff-Reinet, surrounded by the Valley of Desolation.
Overnight: Graaff-Reinet

A full day of travel as you continue east into the lush hills of the Wild Coast. Arrive at Mdumbi, a remote paradise near the mouth of the Mdumbi River.
Overnight: Mdumbi Backpackers

Start the day with a guided kayak trip on the Mdumbi River with Mdumbi Adventures, exploring mangrove-lined channels and peaceful estuaries. Then hike along the coast to Coffee Bay, soaking in ocean views and rural village life.
Overnight: Coffee Shack

Enjoy a full day in Coffee Bay, a laid-back surf village. Spend the day surfing, hiking, or exploring local markets and the cliffs.

Embark on a scenic coastal hike from Coffee Bay to Hole in the Wall, one of the Wild Coast’s most iconic natural landmarks. Continue on to the eco-friendly Wild Lubanzi lodge, perched above the ocean.
Overnight: Wild Lubanzi

Hike or transfer to Bulungula Lodge, a community-owned lodge where you’ll experience authentic village life. In the afternoon, enjoy a village tour, local meals, and time on the beach.
Overnight: Bulungula Lodge

Depart the Wild Coast and travel south to the seaside village of Chintsa, known for its long beaches and relaxed vibe.
Overnight: Buccaneers Lodge & Backpackers

Today is a flexible leisure day to rest, explore, or enjoy optional activities.

Group Options:

  • Spend the day relaxing at Buccaneers: pool, beach, hammocks, and forest views

  • Optional activities (own cost):

    • Horse riding on the beach

    • Canoeing in the Chintsa lagoon

    • Village tour & volunteer program visit

    • Surf lesson or yoga class

    • Visit local craft shops or chill with a coffee at the bar

Scenic Transfer Day

  • Early departure for those staying overnight in Chintsa.

  • Travel along the Wild Coast hinterland and Garden Route, stopping for meals and scenic breaks along the way.

  • Arrive in Sedgefield by evening – a peaceful town nestled between lagoon and forest.

  • Optional sunset walk or dinner overlooking the beach.

Overnight: Sedgefield (eco-lodge or guesthouse)

  • Depart Sedgefield for the final leg of the journey back to Cape Town.

  • Optional stop for coffee & light lunch on the go.

  • Group arrival in Cape Town in the late afternoon or early evening.

  • Drop-offs at pre-arranged central locations.
